The ISPM15 measure
Raw wood is a source of introduction and/or spread of quarantine pests. To cope with this danger many countries have adopted national agreements. As a consequence there exist many specific phytosanitary measures for each of these countries. It became necessary to harmonize and regulate the measures on an international level. The International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) agreed on the ISPM15 measures.
The aim of this standard is to reduce the introduction and/or spread of quarantine pests.
In order to prevent their dissemination, the supplier either refers to:
- heat treatment (HT) at 56° for 30 minutes
- fumigation with methyl bromide (MB): a minimum of 10° for 16 hours according the concentrations
Manufactured wood, such as plywood, OSB, multilayer particle boards, "plots agglomérés" which have already been heated at high temperature when produced, aren't affected by these treatments.
Boxes made of plywood, manufactured by NO-NAIL BOXES, can be shipped without restriction.
Wood used by NO-NAIL BOXES for the manufacturing of their pallets, covers or reinforcements, have all received a heat treatment. They may be shipped all around the world as long as it labels the ISPM15 logo certifying treatment.
